Indoor

The indoor season is always a fun and exciting time with many exceptional outdoor players turning their hand to indoor hockey for the first time. This year’s season was met with unbelievable enthusiasm by the core team and led to a tough but rewarding season. Competing in the premier league is always an enjoyable challenge and this year was no exception, managing to pull a team together during the depths of exam season is a credit to all the girls who played and to create results with the bare 6 is even more impressive. The team did very well to challenge the top teams such as Watsonians and previous Scottish champions Clydesdale with Harriet Bradley, Jika Nyirenda and Katie Brett scoring some exceptional goals, the first half of the season ended with a mixed bag of results which sent us into pool B to play some really tough teams again. After a gritty ‘all to play for’ game against Grange the team did superbly well to put us into 5/6th playoff safe from relegation. The playoff game was tense with both teams performing at their best, and just to add to the tension the game ended in a draw. Our now experienced uni side went on to play penalty shuffles where goalkeeper Kat Carr put in an unbelievable performance to save every try from opponents Inverleith. Jika Nyirenda made the winning goal with a stylish finish to give our team the win and 5th place in an extremely tough Premier league. A massive well done to all the girls who played and a result which is extremely exciting for next year.
