2XI
Captain: Emily O’Hara
Coaches: Mhairi McGregor & Jack Cahalin
While having fun and training hard, the 2nd XI have had a successful few seasons in recent years in the various leagues and competitions we compete in. We’re currently first in our Championship 1A league and finished second in the Scottish Tier 1 BUCS competition, narrowly missing out on first position to the promoted Glasgow Uni 1s. We are currently training for our campaign in the BUCS trophy, hoping to get far this year and win back some more silverware for the 2s. It would be great to see the EUWHC 2s win our Championship 1A league again, currently sitting comfortably at the top of the league table, having won this multiple years in a row with an unbeaten win streak in this league last year and a 101 goal difference (and still being refused a promotion by Scottish Hockey)!! We’ve had varying success in the Scottish cup, conceding a narrow loss on penalty shuttles vs CALA 1s last season in the Scottish Plate Final. Our cup draws this year drew us against 2 top premiership teams, beating Grange 1s 2-0 in the first round and narrowly losing the GHK 1s 1-0 after our goalie was injured in the warm up and we put one of our forwards in the nets!! We also want to maintain the team’s healthy balance between work and play and ensure that our incoming first years are, as always, met with a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere while also playing top level hockey. #twosforlife
