About Us

Edinburgh University Women’s Hockey Club (EUWHC) is the largest women’s club in the country. The Club boasts 10 outdoor teams, a recreational team, beginners sessions and an indoor team training at the Peffermill playing fields in the sight of Edinburgh’s iconic Arthur’s Seat.

As a Club, we are passionate about promoting a high standard of hockey for all abilities, aiming to make hockey fun, exciting, and sociable for all our members. Through providing a weekly coaching programme and all teams playing in competitive leagues, we aim to grow our players talent through their time at University and help them make some of the memories they will treasure long after graduation.

EUWHC is also a high performance club with our 1st XI celebrating back to back European Champions as well as an extremely successful season in Scotland in all competitions. Our 2nd XI are hot on their heels with another successful season reaching the Scottish District Plate final. An amazing season for the 3XI but to be pipped to the post by our very own 4XI who reached the Scottish District Cup Final – this just shows the incredibly high standard across the club! The 5XI and 6XI competition in BUCS are hotting up – both enjoyed a very successful debut season with the 5XI winning the league and the Conference Plate with the 6XI pushing them all the way.  Across the BUCS and local leagues it is clear to see that from 1-9XI EUWHC perform to an incredible standard.

EUWHC is a friendly, inclusive, and respectful club with members that uphold the sporting ideals of passion, determination, and ultimate respect for the game and its participants. We give 100% on the pitch, embodying Player Layer’s slogan of ‘Play, Train, Perform’. We play for each other; support our fellow Club members; and ultimately show sportsmanship win, lose or draw.

 

 We dominate the leagues and we dominate the dancefloor but above all – we do it together and in style!
